In the 35th match of the IPL, held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the homeground of Delhi Capitals, Captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, the decision quickly backfired as Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma launched an assault, raining boundaries from both ends. With Travis Head boasting a strike rate of 283 and Abhishek Sharma an astonishing 383, they set a new record for the highest powerplay score, reaching 125 runs in just 6 overs. This onslaught was halted by Kuldeep Yadav, who struck with back-to-back wickets of Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, and Travis Head. Coming in as a savior for Delhi, Yadav’s timely intervention prevented what seemed like an impending 300+ score during the powerplay. Adding to his impressive spell, Yadav also dismissed Nitish Kumar Reddy, who sought to stabilize SRH’s innings after the quick succession of wickets.

Following SRH’s strong batting display, their bowlers, Washington Sundar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, made an impact early in the second innings by dismissing Prithvi Shaw and David Warner. Jake Fraser-McGurk then stunned with the third fastest IPL half-century, scoring 65 runs off just 18 balls. Alongside, Abishek Porel contributed 42 runs off 22 balls, followed by Rishabh Pant’s 44 off 35 balls. However, their efforts fell short by 67 runs as T. Natarajan wreaked havoc, claiming 4 wickets for just 19 runs for SRH. Mayank Markande and Nitish Kumar Reddy chipped in with 2 wickets each.
